A New York Giant's "Fan" Guide to Superbowl LII

So...here we are: 20 weeks later, 16 regular season games, bye weeks, the Wildcard Round, the Divisional Finals, the Conference Championships, and we have finally made it: The Superbowl !  32 teams began, 12 teams entered into the deathmatch that is the playoffs, and we are down to the final two. Let's get to it, shall we? Superbowl LII New England Patriots vs. Philadelphia Eagles U.S. Bank Stadium, Minneapolis, Minnesota Winner: ... So the AFC & NFC's top seeded teams meet in the Superbowl...remember this fact, it becomes important later... Team 1: The New England Patriots So after coursing through what has been argued the absolute easiest playoffs of their "dynasty" to date by bashing the underdog Titans, and holding off a young, inexperienced, and scrappy team without a real quarterback, the Dark Side of the NFL marches once again to yet another fucking Superbowl. We've all read this story before. The AFC is shit - the level of parity...

Super Bowl LII: The Fans View

With Super Bowl LII taking place tomorrow evening between the New England Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles, myself and Kyle have been predicting the results of games throughout the season, and of course, we’re going to finish those predictions with the Super Bowl. Here’s what Kyle and myself thought: Stuart, Aberdeen, Indianapolis Colts: I’m rooting for the Eagles, not so much for a hatred of the Patriots which has gone down a bit in the last few years since my brother starting supporting them, but more that it’d be nice to see someone else win it, with the Patriots having won it two times in the last three years. Would also be nice to see the “No Lombardis” joke end for the Eagles. Unfortunately though, or fortunately if you’re a Pats fan, I can’t see past them. If Wentz had been playing, I’d have probably fancied the Eagles. Brady has been here before and done it before, and even though the Eagles have been amazing, I just can’t see past the Patriots retaining the Lombardi. ...

Super Bowl LII Preview by Stuart Tomlin

“I have a dream,  a fantasy, to help me through reality And my destination makes it worth the while Pushing through the darkness still another mile.” Bet you’d never see a Super Bowl Preview beginning with an ABBA lyric, but here we are. Like most NFL rookies, the Super Bowl was the first NFL game I ever watched. Yeah, that is a sentence that sounds like it contradicts itself, but it’s true. Most of us getting into the game start by watching the Super Bowl. The very first Super Bowl I ever watched was with my Dad, and funnily enough, it was the New England Patriots against the Philadelphia Eagles, like it will be on Sunday. That was the beginning of our Super Bowl bets that would last over the next three years. The Colts winning our last bet eventually led me to supporting them. The following year, the Helmet Catch by David Tyree stopping the Patriots from getting 19-0 in Arizona. Since 2010, a Colts Super Bowl appearance against the New Orleans Saints – the “Ambush”...

NFL Conference Championships Review: By Kyle Balfour

So...there we have it. Our final two gladiators have been chosen for the final showdown: The Superbowl. So let's see how they emerged victorious as we cover the AFC & NFC Conference Championships. AFC Game: New England Patriots vs. Jacksonville Jaguars Gillette Stadium, Foxborough, Massachusetts Result: Patriots 24-20 Jaguars Kyle Said: Patriots (1-0) Stuart Said: Patriots (1-0) ... so close ... so close ... All right, I'll give them their dues: the Jaguars played great. Some incredible defensive stops made this a very close knit game in a situation where many tipped them to roll over and die like a real life jaguar to a poacher.  They didn't: they stepped up, their defence made plays, Tom Brady ate dirt far more than even he himself anticipated. The downside for the Jaguars? Being both predictable in deploying Leonard Fournette for 1st and 2nd down runs that amounted to fuck all, and the unpredictable roulette wheel of chance known as Blake fucking Bortl...
NFL Conference Championship Preview: By Stuart Tomlin And then there were four. One more game. A trip to the Super Bowl in the balance. 28 teams have come and gone, and we’re now left with the New England Patriots, the Jacksonville Jaguars (yes, I know, I’m surprised at this too), the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Minnesota Vikings. Lead by Quarterback greats such as Tom Brady…Blake…Bortles…Nick Foles (well, WOULD have been Carson Wentz)…and…Case Keenum (to be fair, he’s having a very good season.). After next week, we’ll know which two of these quarterbacks, and which two of these teams will be playing the Super Bowl. Let’s have a look at the four teams, and the two Conference Championship games, shall we? THE AFC CHAMPIONSHIP: NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS 13-3, AFC East Champions, AFC 1 st Seed. FFS, the Patriots are in the AFC Championship game for the seventh consecutive year. They’re probably going to the Super Bowl again, we’re probably never gonna hear the end...
The Coaching Carousel By Stuart Tomlin Congratulations to the New England Patriots, Jacksonville Jaguars, Philadelphia Eagles and Minnesota Vikings. Now that’s out of the way, and there’s a Conference Championship Game (and a preview) coming up for you this weekend, but this is going to be looking at the other 28 teams. More specifically, those of us who changed coaches in the offseason. Naturally, owing to complete bias, I’m going to start in Indianapolis. The Chuck Pagano era mercifully ended in Indy on December 31 st following our 22-13 win over the Texans, which got us to the lofty heights of 4-12. That was enough for Jim Irsay to finally fire Pagano, probably two years after he should have. A disastrous season from start to finish with Andrew Luck being out for the entire year. Fortunately, he’s most likely back next season, and it’s looking like Josh McDaniels will be the man taking over. The current Patriots OC, he can’t officially accept the job until the Patriot...
